My name is Chanelle Artuongo, and I’ve worked extensively with teens and young adults in both outpatient and residential settings. At Embodied Wellness and Recovery, Chanelle Catuongo, ACSW, a bilingual (Spanish-speaking), individual and family therapist. Chenelle is passionate about empowering teens, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate the challenges of trauma and emotional healing. With her expertise in trauma-informed care and compassionate therapeutic approaches, Chanelle creates a safe and nurturing environment for her clients to explore their experiences and begin their healing journey. She uses evidence-based techniques, such as Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), somatic therapy, and psychodynamic, attachment-focused therapy, to address the root causes of trauma, helping her clients find relief and build resilience. 

She specializes in Somatic Surf Therapy and Coaching, which has helped her clients reconnect with their bodies, feel more in tune with their emotions, and gain better control over how they respond to difficult situations.

With an authentic, gentle approach, Chanelle focuses on helping you become more mindful and aware of your feelings, so instead of reacting impulsively to triggering feelings of situations, you can develop the ability to pause, reflect, and choose how you want to respond. Chanelle’s Background:

Chanelle, who offers services in both English and Spanish, lived in Puerto Rico for a few years, working with local at-risk youth in both group and surf therapy settings. Chanelle has worked as a youth group therapist for the past years at Every Kid Swims, Dangerfield institute of Urban Problems, Urban Surf, and Key Healthcare. She specializes in surf therapy where she has been a professional surf instructor and mentor for the past 6 years.
